On the pitch On the pitch… Arsenal bounced back from a 1-0 defeat in Sunderland on Saturday by beating Standard Liege 2-0 in the Champions League with goals from Samir Nasri and Denilson. The victory means Arsenal will finish winners of Group H and progress to the Knockout Stages of the competition with a game to spare. The Under-18s beat Southampton 3-0 but the Ladies lost in Sunderland, going down 2-1 to the Black Cats.
Off the pitch Off the pitch… Kieran Gibbs was ruled out for around three months after fracturing a metatarsal in his left foot during the 2-0 win over Standard Liege. Alex Song committed his future to Arsenal by signing a new long-term contract. Young striker Rhys Murphy joined Brentford on-loan for three months while 19-year-old keeper Wojciech Szczesny also joined the Bees, moving to the League One club for one month. Sanchez Watt signed a contract extension and supporters began voting for what they want to see on Arsenal TV Online's Games Night.

"A guy who wins with his club then goes to the World Cup has a good chance to win again because the players are not afraid of you if you do nothing the whole season."
